Feel, Instead of See, Incredible Pieces of Art During the Annual Art in the Dark Event

Over fifty amazing art pieces, over forty fantastic vendors, and wine, beer and amazing cocktails! Art in the Dark is back with the 9th Annual Art in the Dark, an unforgettable evening celebrating the touch, sense and feel of art. Don’t miss it next Tuesday, June 18th beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Experience purchasing art as one who is visually impaired. Spend the evening with fabulous local artists, potters, sculptors and jewelry designers who have donated their art work to this event. The art will be displayed with cloth draped over it, allowing guests to touch and feel the art without seeing it! Find a piece you can’t leave without? Bid on art that catches your interest and take your new pieces home that night.

There’s much more to enjoy at Art in the Dark, too, including a jewelry display featuring assistive technology, made possible by the Blind Children’s Program. Browse and choose your favorite or watch as children create one-of-a-kind pieces! Music will be provided by the Lighthouse Choir. Food will be on-site courtesy of Chef Dady, Botika, Morton’s Steakhouse, Southerleigh, Fogo de Chao, Paesanos, Aloha Kitchen, Sichuan House, and Lala’s Gorditas. Bring a friend, and enjoy a drink provided by San Antonio’s own Cocktail Conference!

This event benefits the San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind and Vision Impaired. Established in 1933, the organization began with the vision of one individual, Dr. Henry Wyneken, who wanted to organize a program to serve the blind in our community. In the beginning, the San Antonio Lighthouse offered part-time work for five people at a sewing plant where pillow cases were produced. Since those humble beginnings, it has grown to become one of the largest non-profit organizations in San Antonio.

Make plans now to attend the 9th Annual Art in the Dark fundraising event! Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 at the door. For more information, visit www.salighthouse.org.

At West Oaks Apartments in San Antonio, Texas, we love mixing up on-site events with those happening in our greater area. Be sure to pencil this one into your busy schedule!
